About the data

The map shows the average life expectancy at birth for each country, colour coded as ‘good’ (green), ‘middling’ (amber) or ‘bad’ (red). The life expectancy data come from the 2007/08 Human Development Index report which provides figures for 2005. Arrow over each country to see its name and life expectancy in years.
